“Larissa Flynn Paints the Florida keys and the island life” Exhibition

February 23, 2024

From Marvin Rouse:

“Join us for the talented Larissa Flynn, a Michigan-born, formally trained fine Artist specializing in plein air oil paintings, for her Solo Exhibition on Friday, February 23rd, 2024, from 4 pm to 7 pm.

Her works capture the beauty of the Florida Keys and the various Islands and sea life she has painted during her travels throughout the state. I love the colors and textured brushstrokes in her work. I was so excited she accepted my invitation to exhibit in my gallery for a solo show this 2024 season.”

“The Hidden worlds of Tina Bland” Exhibition

January 25 - 27, 2024

From Naples Illustrated:

“Marvin D. Rouse Studio Gallery will present “The Hidden Worlds of Tina Bland,” a four-day solo exhibit of paintings by Tina Bland, taking place January 26-29. The show includes three evening receptions on January 26, 27, and 28, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Old Naples Gallery (853 4th Avenue South).

Rouse is curating the exhibit with a novel approach. Each day, Rouse will hang a new collection of paintings from Bland’s inventory, describing her work as “deserving to be viewed in greater volume than possible on a single showing.” He has personally selected more than 30 paintings for the show.

Bland is a self-taught artist who paints on canvas with acrylic paints and pens. She uses repetitive designs and forms, especially dots, that convey movement and natural sensuality. Bland’s abstract paintings showcase her signature highly saturated vibrant colors and organic forms.”

“The Hidden Worlds of Tina Bland” exhibit is Rouse’s first show for fellow local artists in his Old Naples gallery.”

Butter Labor Day Weekend 2023

“Indianapolis-born artist Marvin D. Rouse was invited back to create another “BUTTER” sculpture for the third annual Fine Art Fair.”

“BUTTER LOVE” is inspired by the Indianapolis 3rd Annual "Butter Fine Art Fair theme, representative of how love overcomes evil when it stands up to it. The butter stick stands at the height of 8’ft x 2’ft x 2’ft sq. and 10 feet from the platform, aiming onward and upward at a 45* degree angle, symbolically expressing looking out and up to God “The Rise of Love” is at hand. As people come together, recognizing they are love, it rises. The evil that divides us knows it’s losing its power, the corruption stealing light from us through fear, jealousy, hate, greed, lust, and the ego; dark thoughts against ourselves or others Are a choice. By standing up to it, starting within ourselves, our actions reflect the will of truth and the pure love that overcomes evil."

~“Evil, why have you stolen so much love” ~ Stevie Wonder (1972) Music of My Mind

“Rouse created this piece to reflect these truths into the sculpture and worked with colors that expressed his vision. “Doing this one in a deep transparent royal blue film reflecting the specks of light shining like stars from the crumbled aluminum foil underneath symbolizes the infinite Kosmic Love shining through the darkness to reveal violet tones with waves of royal blue cellophane representing the Kosmic waters of life.”

Indianapolis-born artist Marvin D. Rouse was invited to participate in the second annual “BUTTER,” A Fine Art Fair held at the STUTZ building in downtown Indy in 2022. He was inspired by the name and envisioned a giant stick of butter standing at a 45* degree angle, he proposed it, and the GANGGANG founders of Butter commissioned it. “I loved the idea of creating such a large piece, especially when we are used to seeing it so small compared to this 8’ x 2” square ft. stick of butter.”

This was the first-ever exhibition in Indianapolis. The artist would show his artwork after moving to Naples, Florida, 25 years earlier in 1998. Excited to create this piece, he began the process, “I started with a scaled-down mock-up I did at my studio back in Naples; this way, I could learn everything I needed to know when I built the real thing here in Indianapolis in my buddy’s basement.” Rouse used Styrofoam and aluminum foil with colored cellophane to create this sculpture. “The word “Butter” was used in my youth as a word that meant something like “That’s butter,” like, that’s smooth, that’s cool, so having a piece that’s “BUTTER” for the people to see and take pictures in front of it beaming is pure joy, and it’s the joy of creating makes it special connecting with the people through my art is a gift and that’s a BUTTER LIFE I am grateful for.”

Marvin d. Rouse FEATURED IN THE SEPTEMBER 2021 ISSUE OF GULFSHORE LIFE

From Jaynie Bartley of Gulfshore Life:

“Rouse found his artistic eye when he was 5 years old, watching in awe as his uncle sketched a race car in a notepad one morning as they ate grits. After that, his uncle would bring him coloring books, and Rouse was fascinated by the various hues; in kindergarten, his teachers would draw lines and shapes for him to fill. “I was kind of a troubled kid, with a lot of energy and no direction, no father,” he says. “But at the same time, I had a dream, and I knew I wanted to make it. I wanted to be an artist.”

Rouse Art ™ in Venetian Village Pop-up Art Gallery

January 10, 2018

Venetian Village Pop-Up Gallery 4350 Gulf Shore Blvd Suite #206

Marvin Rouse was invited by A UAC of Collier County staff member in late 2017 that had seen his work at studio 1084. She presented him with the opportunity to exhibit his artwork with two other artists at a pop-up gallery in a space in the Venetian Village Shops in Naples.

Excited to prepare, they had from January 3 to 6 to be ready with their work to be displayed for the reception on Saturday at 5 pm.

The other talented artists, Adriana Flores and Caitlin Rosolen, exhibited from January 6 through March 31. We all had to spend time in the gallery on the set days ranging from Thursday to Saturday 11. am- 7. pm & Sunday, 10 am - 6pm. This was from January 12, 2018, to March 2018. we were free to be there whenever we could, so I did, and that made it even more of an opportunity to connect with the people.

It was such a gift meeting all of the visitors & sharing our art with them. All that came to the Village passed by the gallery and stopped to see the art. The great conversations and feedback on his art were invaluable. We are happy to announce that "Kolor Full King" was sold to an Amazing couple during the exhibition. To say that this was a success is almost an understatement; it was so much more than that, fantastic on so many levels, the valuable connections and great memories that will continuously inspire him and his art during this kolor-full journey of life.

Thanks to everyone who shared such a memorable experience with us!

Again a special thanks to all the uac of collier county staff!
